The principles of the Green New Deal resonate with the American people - a mission to save all of creation by investing in massive job creation.
McConnell is eager to get Senate Democrats on the record about their support for the resolutionintroduced last week by Senator Ed Markey of MA and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of NY.
The Washington Post's Robert Costa tweeted Tuesday morning: "McConnell is considering taking up the green new deal for a vote in the Senate as a way to rattle Sen Dems, per a McConnell aide here at the [Capitol]". "It's the sort of thing that you would expect insane lefty college kids to come up with who never actually lived in the real world ... but were trying to think of - I want to live in a world with unicorns and daisies floating in the sky".
The proposals known as the Green New Deal were crafted in conjunction with Senator Ed Markey of MA.
Sen. Ed Markey (D., Mass.) railed against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R., Ky.) decision to call the Green New Deal resolution to a vote, legislation he co-sponsored along with freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.). Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) seemed to downplay the deal, referring to the bill as a "green dream". He wants Americans to see which Democrats are actually foolish enough to actually support it.
It's hard to say whether McConnell will be successful in his bid to rattle Democrats on the fence about a resolution that promises so much so quickly.
Whatever happens next, it's becoming increasingly clear that the Green New Deal is turning into something the two parties think they can use to their advantage.
"I've noted with great interest the Green New Deal". Cory Booker, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, Sen. Elizabeth Warren - all of whom have declared they will run for the Democrat nominee in the 2020 presidential race.
Cruz mocked that part of the proposal as well.
The Green New Deal House resolution introduced last week calls for the elimination of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through massive investments in clean energy sources and millions of jobs. "It would mean banning all airplanes", Cruz said.
"It'll be interesting to see just how many Democrats will be willing to jump on the insane train. I'm looking forward to seeing the round-trip train tracks going to Hawaii".
"I would just say that it's going to be crucially important for us to recognize and understand when we outlaw plane travel, we outlaw gasoline, we outlaw cars, I think actually probably the entire USA military, because of the Green New Deal, that we are able to explain to our constituents and to people all across this country what that really means", Cheney said.
"We're a compassionate society and those who are unable to work, we have always cared for", Cruz said. "We're all quite interested in that, as you can imagine".
