Wolverhampton Wanderers extended their unbeaten to run six matches in all competitions after netting a late equaliser against Newcastle United.

Benitez was also riled when his side were defeated 2-1 by Wolves in December, losing to another stoppage-time goal.

After this latest set-back, he said: 'In England they don't understand the rules. I can say many things but it will not change anything.

Wins for Cardiff and Burnley over the weekend didn't help the Magpies' cause with Rafa Benitez's side now only outside the bottom three on goal difference.

"The situation is to protect the goalkeeper, so you're supposed to protect the keeper". We have been here for years and it's still very hard to explain that.

"It wasn't a foul, and you have to give great credit to Wolves and Boly", he said. "It was another bad way to concede".

"It's something we have to defend better, the cross".

Hayden opened the scoring after 56 minutes when Rui Patricio parried his angled effort in at the near post. The referee had added on four minutes. "The disappointment is for everyone".

Newcastle now sit in 16th place, two points above the relegation zone.

"I'm pleased. That's something we have to keep doing, showing this character".

"It came and it brought some justice". Like the first game, we couldn't say too much and it didn't change what happened.

"It's not about the point, the story of the game could have been different as the first half was totally controlled".
