Kyler Murray chooses the National Football League over MLB

As a result of his decision, Murray will give up the vast majority of the $4.66 million bonus he was set to receive from the A's after they made him the ninth overall pick in last year's Major League Baseball draft.

"He's really fun to watch on a football field, and he's going to be fun to watch on a baseball field". Picking the National Football League means that Murray will have to give back most of the almost $5 million signing bonus he received from the A's since he will not report to spring training.

Earlier on Monday, A's president Billy Beane said the situation around Murray was still uncertain.

The Oakland Athletics selected Murray with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 MLB June Amateur Draft.

Jeff Passan, a writer for ESPN, tweeted that Murray will have to return $1.29 million of his signing bonus money that he has already received, and he forfeits the remaining $3.16 million.
