Howard The Duck & The Offenders Marvel TV Shows Coming To Hulu

"Marvel's Hit Monkey" comes from writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck, with Gordon, Speck and Jeph Loeb serving as Executive Producers.

At the Television Critics Association press tour Monday morning, Hulu announced four new Marvel Television animated series are on the way, including "Marvel's M.O.D.O.K.", "Marvel's Hit Monkey", "Marvel's Tigra & Dazzler Show", and "Marvel's Howard the Duck".

As a third season of the Schwartz and Stephanie Savage created Marvel's Runaways seems a sure bet, Hulu is hoping to strongly up its Marvel game and to resurrect the reputation of the acerbic Howard The Duck, who got plucked in that awful 1986 feature film, as part of its big programming chess move. Kevin Smith and Dave Willis are writer and producers on Howard the Duck, with Loeb. A M.O.D.O.K. series is being created by Patton Oswald and Jordan Blum, centered around the egomaniacal villain as he struggles to keep control of his evil organization and demanding family. Joining Hulu's vast collection of animated content, the four originals will culminate in a special: Marvel's The Offenders.

In the series, Howard the Duck is trapped in a world he never made, but America's favorite fighting fowl hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu... Netflix series host and comedian Chelsea Handler will team up with South Park vet Erica Rivinoja to write this series, which will be set in Los Angeles and put the heroes together as "best friends" (in spite of the two heroes having little contact in comic books up until this point).

Marvel fans have long wanted Kevin Smith to take on the foul-mouthed Howard the Duck character, and those dreams are finally coming true. There have been successful Marvel animated series for Disney channels, but nothing for adult Marvel fans.

With most of The Defenders live-action Marvel Television series getting canceled at Netflix, the industry has speculated Disney's impending streaming service, Disney+, would be the eventual repository for the majority of new Marvel TV offerings. "M.O.D.O.K., Hit Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler and Howard the Duck will form a team no one asked for - The Offenders (and wait until you see who the Team Leader is!)!"

No launch dates were announced but the shows will all be under the purview of executive vice president of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb.
