"Abigail has been battling Wilms' tumor cancer for the past two years and expressed her dream of wanting to be a police officer to our Chief Ray Garivey", the police department wrote on Facebook.
A 6-year-old Texas girl with an incurable cancer said she had dreamed of becoming a police officer, so the Freeport Police Department decided to make her an honorary officer for the day - and the chief of police broke down while swearing her in.
"She is no doubt God-sent", Garivey said.
In December, Abigail met Garivey and told him about her dream to become a police officer.
Abigail Arias has taken a solemn oath to continue to fight the bad guys. "Extremely tough, we cried for a few weeks".
She was dressed in full Freeport Police Department blues as she climbed up a stepladder, raised her right hand and repeated Garivey's words.
On Thursday, the Freeport Police Dept. made that dream come true by making her an honorary officer.
Iran Marks 40th Anniversary of Revolution
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Monday laid historical claims to a number of Arabian Gulf countries without naming them. In January, Mr Rouhani said Iran was facing its worst economic crisis since the Shah was toppled.
'What a great day for the City of Freeport, and our Law Enforcement Family from all over this great state, who were in attendance!'
"I have cancer. The bad guys are in my lungs", the six-year-old from Texas told ABC News.
This morning her dreams came true.
So Garivey reached out to an organization in Pearland called Cop Stop, which was able to make a custom Freeport police uniform for Abigail. "I rung the bell, but now this cancer is coming back", she said.
Despite having an incurable cancer, Abigail has not given up her fighting spirit.
The ceremony was attended by a number of police officers from across Texas, as well as Abigail's family and friends.
'You have to meet her to really understand what a great and inspiring young lady she is'.
