  • New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson with the Indian team during second T20I

Rohit Sharma became the highest run scorer in Twenty20 worldwide history Friday as India romped to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand in the second T20 in Auckland.

India: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni, Krunal Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed, Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Siraj. As this was a boundary that helped the team record its first-ever T20I win on New Zealand soil.

India celebrate the fall of a wicket. Krunal Pandya was the pick of the bowlers from the Indian side. "It's ridiculous", said former New Zealand bowler Simon Doull on air while adding that there was a clear inside edge.

The young Vijay Shankar was dismissed by Mitchell for 14 and then Rishabh Pant 40 (28)* and MS Dhoni 20 (17)* scored valuable cameo knocks staying firm without losing further wickets, and their unbeaten knocks lead India to 162/3, and a victory by 7 wickets with 7 balls to spare. After losing the first T20, India leveled the T20 series 1-1 with this victory.

It was the kind of day when nothing went right for India who let New Zealand amass 219 before surrendering meekly in the steep chase.

Popular Sumatran Tiger Melati Killed By Intended Mate At London Zoo
Contingency plans called for handlers to use loud noises, flares and alarms to try to distract the tigers, but that didn't work. But tensions "quickly escalated", things became "more aggressive" and Melati died in a fight, the zoo said.

TV replays clearly showed there was an inside edge and a patch on the hotspot could also be detected when the ball beat Mitchell's bat.

The third and final match of the T20I series will be played in Hamilton on Sunday. But Sodhi had the last laugh when Rohit -after completing his 16th T20I fifty - was holed out in the deep in the deep in the 10th over. US is the only country where they have not won a T20I match yet among countries in which they have played the shortest format.

Captain Kane Williamson could not be more happy with the showing in the first T20 but wants his team to fully focus on the job at hand.

Krunal Pandya took three for 28 and Khaleel Ahmed finished with figures of two for 27 as the tourists prevented New Zealand from exploiting Eden Park's short boundaries. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and no. 4 batsman Daryl Mitchell also failed to entertain the crowd as they were removed for 20 and 1 run respectively.
