The director sued Amazon on Thursday for backing out of agreements worth upwards of $73 million, the New York Daily News reported, due to the longstanding allegation that Allen sexually assaulted his adoptive daughter when she was 7 years old. Production on the film was completed in 2017, but the movie has been sitting on the shelf, reportedly delayed by concerns over Allen's past behavior.

Allen says he and his production company Gravier inked the multi-picture deal with Amazon to finance and distribute his movies in August 2017, after it released both Cafe Society and Wonder Wheel - an association the suit claims generated "prestige" for the online empire's fledgling studio and established it as "a legitimate player in Hollywood".

Allen, however, believes Amazon had no basis to end their contract, and has now filed a $68 million lawsuit in New York Federal Court against the company, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Then, in June 2018, Ajay Patel, associate general counsel, Amazon Studios and movies & TV, sent an email canceling the deal, saying "Amazon can not continue in business with Mr. Allen". Dylan's mother is Mia Farrow, who is the mother of Ronan Farrow as well, however, rumors have circulated for years that Ronan is actually the son of Frank Sinatra and not Woody. "I don't want to profit from my work on the film", the actor wrote in an Instagram post.

Allen has won four Oscars, including best director for 1977's Annie Hall, which also won best picture.

Cricket Australia (CA) wants to ensure that he is fully fit for the Ashes series, which starts on August 1. Warner's injury is considered less serious, with the left-hander only requiring a clean out of his elbow.

The continuing controversy over Allen's past apparently convinced Amazon to scrap the release of A Rainy Day in NY in any form, prompting Allen's breach of contract lawsuit, which was filed in a NY federal court.

Allen is seeking $68 million in minimum guarantee payments from the four films in the deal with Amazon, in addition to damages and attorneys fees.

Woody Allen is now suing Amazon for a breach in contract, stating that the reason Amazon won't produce his movies is because of "a 25-year-old, baseless allegation". Co-star Rebecca Hall made a pledge to do the same a year ago. According to the Internet Movie Database, Allen's next film is due in 2020, but for a filmmaker whose projects usually command big stars and big attentions, the details on his next release are notably murky.

"The plot", the site notes, "is now unknown".
