SpaceX, the pioneering space technology company led by Elon Musk, will lay off about 10 percent of its more than 6,000 employees.

"We are grateful for everything they have accomplished and their commitment to SpaceX's mission", the company continued.

"This action is taken only due to the extraordinarily hard challenges ahead and would not otherwise be necessary, " the company said in a statement.

Citing an email sent to employees on Friday, the Los Angeles Times said the company was offering those affected a minimum of eight weeks' pay and other benefits, including career coaching and resume assistance.

SpaceX has a number of major launches coming this year, too, including two of its mega Falcon Heavy rockets and the launch of its own satellites, Starlink, which are meant to provide high-speed broadband Internet across the globe. "Either of these developments, even when attempted separately, have bankrupted other organizations", SpaceX said in a statement.

After considering their reply, it was decided that the BCCI would proceed against both for misconduct and indiscipline. Virat KohlI: "We would have batted first as well but some of the players are inclined towards chasing.

If the test launches go well, SpaceX could be ready to launch NASA astronauts to the International Space Station by midyear. However, the launch and satellite initiatives the company is pursuing will each require several billion dollars to complete.

The statement did not disclose the size of the layoffs, but a company source, speaking on background, estimated the cuts at 10 percent of the workforce.

SpaceX launched its first rocket of 2019 early Friday.

In October, Elon Musk reportedly fired at least seven people from senior management at the SpaceX facilities in Redmond, Washington, as he was not satisfied with the speed of developing and testing Starlink satellites.

According to reports on the internet, Musk said that the company should have its first orbital prototype by June this year.
