On December 29, 2018, a female patient who is under the care and supervision of a Phoenix-based healthcare facility Hacienda HealthCare gave birth.

According to AZ Family, the woman has been a patient at the Hacienda Healthcare facility in Phoenix since nearly drowning 14 years ago has left her in an unresponsive state.

"While federal and state privacy laws prohibit us from publicly discussing a patient's health or case, Hacienda has and will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement and all the relevant regulatory agencies regarding this matter", Hacienda said in its statement.

Investigators are also trying to figure out whether any staff members knew that the woman was pregnant and didn't report it, sources told ABC 15. He declined to confirm whether the investigation involved a possible sex crime or elaborate on the circumstances that prompted the investigation.

The Arizona Department of Health Services told the Arizona Republic that in the wake of the news that a woman gave birth, the facility is required to have heightened security measures including increased staff presence during patient interactions, increased monitoring of patient care areas, and increased security measures with respect to visitors to the facility.

Hacienda HealthCare's chief executive, Bill Timmons, stepped down on Monday, spokesman David Leibowitz said.
