It is learnt that it was Carter who prepared Federer at a very young age but the coach could not see the Swiss star winning his first Wimbledon title as he passed away in a auto crash a year before.

Zverev won the biggest crown of his career when he overpowered Novak Djokovic at the ATP Finals past year, but questions remain over whether this new kid on the block can dismantle the dominance of the big four - Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray.

Federer will be competing in the Australian Open this year as the world no. 3 and the defending champion in a bid to win his 21st Grand Slam title and a record 7th Australian Open title as well. He cried, said he misses Carter, and that he hoped he made him proud.

Learning of Carter's death whilst playing at the 2002 Canadian Masters in Toronto, Federer was reputedly said to be "never so upset in his life".

"I played super well in Australia again". I think what I would like to say is that I've been incredibly fortunate to have the right people at the right time, the right coaches.

And the Australian tennis calendar, the country's athletes, and the sporting culture as a whole continue to leave an indelible mark in Federer's character.

'He didn't want me to be a wasted talent.

Even though Federer has spent only two weeks at home since August, the 37-year-old said being on tour now in the "back end", of his career was his most enjoyable period.

"I've been training really well....still happy playing, and I won the last two Australian open editions, so yeah i definitely should be going in there with confidence", added Federer.

The assistant will also allow Android and iOS users to check their flight simply by saying: "OK Google, check-in on my flight". The ability to check into flights is rolling out for domestic United Airlines flights first, just like the hotel booking tool.

Forget champagne and victory parties, Novak Djokovic has a different celebration in mind should he win his seventh Australian Open title: climb a tree. "I made those decisions, but I've been lucky along the way".

Recounting how they first met at the Old Boys' Tennis Club, Federer said: "He was one of the star players on the team".

Like Federer, Djokovic has seen enormous success at the Australian Open throughout his career. But still I have a lot of things to improve.

"Am i confident? I dont know..."

The Swiss legend thanked his former coach for discovering him as a youngster and credits him with moulding his incomparable technique.

"Especially at this stage of my life and career I've achieved enough to say it's enough, I don't need to do anything to make a living or whatever". I've had another great year.

"Melbourne will be the same I think".

Till past year, the Australian Open had a traditional full set in all of its set but from this edition, the decisive set will have a tie-break.
