The 14-inch display can either be a 1366×768 non-touch panel or, for an additional $30, a 1920×1080 touch screen. 2019 tech trade event, HP and Acer announced the world's first AMD powered Chromebooks. Currently, the Chromebook market is controlled primarily by Intel's chips. There are some ARM-based Chromebooks too in the market.

The announcements are in conjunction with the new A4-9120C and the A6-9220C, which have slower CPU and GPU clock speeds than the 15-watt full-fat versions. It offers a battery life of nine hours and fifteen minutes.

AMD declares that both the A4 and the A6 edge out competition in nearly every area, with up to 23% faster web browsing according to Speedometer 2.0 readings and and web applications processing up to 13% faster in Webxprt 3.

HP's Chromebook 14 is expected to ship later this month starting at $269. It will come with an 11.6-inch display available in both touch and non-touch variants and is powered by a dual-core Intel Celeron processor as well as 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

AMD released its most recent 2000-series mobile processors in September, "H" models with current-generation integrated Vega graphics, but intended for use with discrete graphics in budget-to-midrange gaming laptops. It will be available in colors like white, blue and gray.it houses the same-sized display but supports a higher resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. These include rubber bumpers, liquid-resistant keyboards that also prevent tampering with individual keys, and, in the case of the Chromebook Tablet CT100, a "strong tempered glass" protecting the display. It will weight 3.7 pounds and have an excellent battery life of up to 13 hours.

While many laptops are choosing to forgo USB-A ports altogether for USB-C, the HP Chromebook 14's choice to keep 2 USB-A ports alongside the 2 USB-C ports - as well as a microSD slot and a headphone jack - is as refreshing as it is appreciated.
