  • Chief of Staff Onyx Lorenzoni and far-right President Jair Bolsonaro want to sweep away the leftwing ideology of the Workers Party which ruled Brazil 2003-2016

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro did not rule out that he may discuss with Washington the establishment of a United States military base on Brazilian territory, he said in an interview with the TV channel SBT on Thursday.

Brazil's new President Jair Bolsonaro said that he would be open to the possibility of the United States operating a military base on his country's soil, a move that would form a sharp shift in direction for Brazilian foreign policy.

"Brazil must be concerned about that", he said.

Founded in 1969, Embraer is a world leader in regional aircraft manufacturing.

Jair Bolsonaro, who took office on Tuesday, is a fan of U.S. President Donald Trump and a fierce critic of Venezuela's socialist President Nicolas Maduro.

He added that "the only weighty voice speaking out against me is Iran", the Shiite Islamic republic that is an enemy to Israel and hostile to Arab allies of the U.S. such as Saudi Arabia.

Intelligence reports published in the Brazilian media attributed the violence to a reaction by gangs to attempts to end their control of some prisons by separating inmates by affiliation and blocking cellphone signals.

In December, two Russian Tu-160 strategic bombers, an An-124 military transport aircraft and an Il-62 plane arrived in Venezuela where they held joint exercises with the South American country's Air Force.

Around half of the people robbed were tourists from Europe, South America and Asia, as reported by Merco Press. "We may ink an agreement in the specified area", Bolsonaro added.

The federal justice and public security ministry, which is now led by the former anti-corruption judge Sérgio Moro, ordered the security force officers to be sent to Ceará at the request of the state's governor, Camilo Santana, citing the "urgent" nature of the threat. Critics blasted the proposal, saying that it will result in immediate and bloody prison uprisings.

The far-right president, elected on a law-and-order platform, warned in a tweet that sky-high violence would only slow if laws were passed to provide police and soldiers freedom from prosecution when on active duty.

Throughout the campaign, Bolsonaro said he wanted to give police and soldiers peace of mind while on often-violent operations, and he has also advocated broader access to guns so people can defend themselves.

2017 were registered in Brazil almost 64,000 murders.
