  • Report: Windows 10 Takes Over Windows 7

According to New Marketshare, in November previous year Windows 7 held 38.89 percent of the market while Windows 10 was second with 38.14 percent.

Stat-wranglers from NetMarketShare are the latest to declare that Windows 10 has gently given its much-loved (or less disliked) predecessor a nudge toward oblivion, if only by a few percentage points.

This data comes from Net Market Share, which shows the two operating systems' finally crossing over in December, with 39.22 percent market share for Windows 10 and 36.9 percent for Windows 7. Windows 7 reached 100 million users in less than six months of its launch.

Build 18305 brought with it a number of interesting new features, but Windows Sandbox is potentially one of the biggest surprises. Majority of Window 7 users continue to be enterprise customers, and Microsoft will have to continue pushing these businesses to slowly make the shift to Windows 10. We still can't overlook the fact that Microsoft's Windows 10 has been growingly steadily over the years, and the company's Windows as a Service plan has worked out pretty well. Microsoft already confirmed a year ago that its Windows 10 OS version has been installed on 700 million devices including PCs, Xbox, tablets and phones. This is what made it possible for Windows 10 to become the "most popular desktop OS" in December.

The company has a huge year ahead of itself - with one big Windows 10 update expected in the first half of the year, and another in the second.

Windows 10 v1809 is being a "bone in the neck" release for Microsoft. According to WCCFTech, there are still "multiple Windows 10 October 2018 Update upgrade blocks that are in place".
