Man arrested for attacking McDonald's employee over not getting a straw

After about 15 seconds, another McDonald's employee walks around the end of the counter and pulls the customer back until he lets go of the woman.

A verbal exchange escalated at a St. Petersburg, FL area McDonald's between a white male customer who attacked a Black female employee. To defend herself, she hit back and punched him in the face as he held onto her collar.

Taylor was arrested and charged with two counts of simple battery. She noticed it was almost empty inside, save for a middle-age man who had just received his order and was walking over to the condiments.

Despite being told of the new law, Taylor began screaming at employees, claiming that the law did not exist, WFTS reports.

Plastic straws are a big issue in St. Pete. "The young lady behind the counter told him that it's the law now: 'We are not allowed to have straws in the lobby but you can request one'".

He told The Miami Herald that her quick thinking led to the suspect's arrest.

"I want her ass fired right now", the suspect says in the video as a manager reads his receipt while other workers clean the mess from the fight.

Police said Taylor and Yasmine James, an employee, got into "a verbal argument about straws".

"I guess it was the last straw for that guy", he joked.

"The victim was kicked in the stomach by the defendant, and was complaining of pain", the affidavit read, according to the Post. On his way out the door, he kicked another employee in the stomach.

"Our highest priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants".
