  • Indiana sees its 3rd flu death of the season

New York State has seen a 72 percent increase in flu cases during the week ending December 22 as compared to the previous week, the state health department reported on Thursday.

Influenza A is still the predominately common strain of the virus with the increasing cases reported in the southeastern United States.

Flu season typically runs from October through May.

According to the CDC, the flu virus was responsible for almost 79,000 deaths during the 2017-2018 flu season. More than 900,000 people were hospitalized and more than 80,000 people died.

Meghan Markle Gives Subtle Update On Her Due Date
And according to the fan , Meghan responded: "We're almost there" adding that there wasn't long left to go. Anvil added that the Duchess of Sussex was "so genuine".

Flu complications, such as pneumonia, can result in hospitalization or even death. Subsequently, the Governor signed legislation codifying this order into law, meaning that now any person age 2 or older can be administered the flu vaccine by a pharmacist. Also at high risk are adults 65 and older, pregnant women, residents of long-term care facilities and people with medical conditions including weakened immune systems, asthma, heart disease and diabetes.

The Livingston County Health Department and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services are urging people who have not yet gotten their flu vaccination to do so.

Hand-washing, staying away from sick people and avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth can help prevent the flu. Although the elevated activity has prompted the CDC to announce the start of flu season, health officials say it's too early in the season to know how severe it will be.

The CDC says the good news is all of the viruses they've tested appear to be susceptible to vaccines and treatment.
