President Donald Trump says chief of staff John Kelly will leave his job at the end of the year. He is also expected to host a dinner with senior White House staff, including Kelly, when he returns from Missouri on Friday night.

The mole added: 'Their relationship has deteriorated so much in the last couple weeks, where John Kelly's job security has essentially been seen as permanently in danger'.

Kelly has had a tougher relationship with Trump than his predecessor did and instituted more restrictions around who could reach the president.

But reports that Kelly and Trump are no longer speaking are overblown, the people said.

Having been there ringside Saturday at STAPLES Center, it was some of the best atmosphere I've experienced on a fight night. If they wanna be singled out, he gotta obtain all the belts and just, he gotta leave no doubt.

Kelly was reportedly questioned about the obstruction of justice arm of the special counsel's investigation, which CNN reported Thursday was first launched by former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe shortly after his boss, James Comey, was fired. Trump had previously said Kelly would stay until 2020.

He announced Friday that he'll nominate William Barr, who served as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush, to the same role in his administration. Striking that balance in the turbulent times of Trump has bedeviled both Kelly and his predecessor, Reince Priebus.

But the story line of Kelly's departure has been protracted for so many months that White House aides often now just shrug.

Barr is likely to face tough questions at his confirmation hearing about how he will handle the ongoing special counsel investigation into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation to influence the 2016 presidential election.
