The nuclear deal provides for a lifting of sanctions against Iran in return for curbs on its nuclear activities.

"We respectfully request the Secretary General to submit a thorough report on Iran's ballistic missile activity", it said, noting that such weapons are capable of delivering "at least a 500-kilogram payload to a range of at least 300 kilometres" and were "inherently capable of carrying nuclear weapons".

The United Nations Security Council has met behind closed-doors to discuss Iran's latest missile test, which the United States and other allies said may have been in violation of a three-year-old council resolution. Iran maintains that the resolution does not require it to stop missile development, which it says has nothing to do with its nuclear programme. The wording does not explicitly forbid missile activity, effectively opening a loophole for test firing to continue should Tehran, which insists its missile programme is for defensive purposes only, so wish.

Iran has test-fired a missile allegedly capable of hitting Europe.

At the weekend, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo condemned what he described as Iran's testing of a medium-range ballistic missile.

The United States President Donald trump on Tuesday, promised to launch a new "liberal" world order through which Washington will be able to jettison or strengthen its worldwide agreements, as it further sees determine to stop "bad actors" countries such as China, Iran and Russian Federation from gaining.

Iran's U.N. Mission said in a press release Tuesday that "all ballistic missile related activities of Iran are in full conformity" with the 2015 Security Council resolution and said that "it is the US that is in absolute violation of the very same resolution" for "its unlawful withdrawal" from the nuclear deal. Accordingly the United Kingdom and France vociferated a closed-door convention of the Security Council to debate the issue.

She added, "The global community can not keep turning a blind eye every time Iran blatantly ignores Security Council resolutions".

A USA decision to pull out of the 1987 Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty in response to Russian violations has prompted accusations that Washington is weakening a bulwark of European security. A key provision calls on Iran "not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles created to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons" - but it does not explicitly demand that Tehran do so.

There has been anger in Europe at Washington's abrupt withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal - derided by Trump as a failure but still cherished by many in Brussels as a crowning achievement of European Union diplomacy.

He did not confirm or deny Iran had tested a new missile.

Worse still, the USA now not only openly forces all nations to violate the terms of resolution 2231, but also threatens to punish them for its implementation.

"This is another example of Iran's revolutionary foreign policy that is expansionist and destabilizing for the Middle East, when Iranian-backed Hezbollah is digging tunnels into another country beneath their borders", said U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook. It's all coming from Iran.
