Broward County officials ordered to release uncounted ballot numbers

  • Orlando Florida. U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, who was campaigning in the area and outgoing Republican Florida Gov. Ric

That year's recounts in Broward and other counties were halted by the US Supreme Court, and George W. Bush defeated Al Gore by 537 votes in Florida, giving him the edge in the electoral college and handing him the White House. "No ragtag group of liberal activists or lawyers from D.C. will be allowed to steal this election from the voters in the state of Florida".

Scott's comments came as his campaign and the National Republican Senatorial Committee filed a lawsuit against Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes.

On Friday, West Palm Beach Circuit Court Judge Krista Marx granted an injunction ordering Bucher to submit "over-voted" and "under-voted" absentee ballots to the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board for public review of each vote before they are counted.

Mr DeSantis is now leading by 36,000 votes.

Mr DeSantis's lead was about 38,500 votes on Thursday afternoon (local time), or 0.47 per cent of the vote.

Trump later weighed in, tweeting Thursday evening: "Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach".

With only about 15,000 votes separating U.S. Sen.

Mr Scott's team released a statement yesterday saying: "It is sad and embarrassing that Bill Nelson would resort to these low tactics after the voters have clearly spoken".

"The fact is that these laws, when taken together, condition the right to vote of millions of Floridians who vote-by-mail, or wind up voting provisionally, on the untrained opinions of canvassing boards or elections officials as to whether or not signatures match", said Nelson's campaign attorney, Mark Elias.

A machine recount means damaged ballots are duplicated, all ballots are re-scanned and then the number of total votes cast according to the machines are compared with the number of votes the county initially reported. But lawyers for Scott contended the information is already required to be collected under state law and should take minutes to provide.

There also could be pressure to impeach Trump, though chances of removal from office by a Republican-controlled Senate are remote. Maxine Waters of California, another favorite Trump villain, who is set to lead the powerful Financial Services Committee.

"He is not here for a full and fair election or even an accurate vote count", Scott said.

"This is a clear violation of Florida law", Scott said.

However, the Associated Press is reporting that Mr DeSantis has won the election.

Meanwhile, Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson has begun preparing for a potential recount in a race that is still too close to call against Republican Gov. Rick Scott.

Protesters held signs that said, "Brenda Snipes has to go", "stop creating votes" and "don't steal our election".

How is it possible that in light of the 2000 recount in Florida that exposed irregularities, incompetence and alleged fraud that the state has not improved its election system?

A Broward County judge ordered the county's elections chief to turn over to Gov. Rick Scott's campaign for the U.S. Senate an accounting of how many ballots were cast in the county, broken down by category, by 7 p.m. Friday.

Marc Elias, a lawyer hired by Nelson, said he expects the margin to narrow further.

Mr Scott is now leading by a mere 17,000 votes.

7News cameras captured the chaotic scene after supporters of DeSantis' Democratic opponent, Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, showed up in front of the Lauderhill building to demand that every ballot is counted.
