"Millions from other countries idolise him".

When it comes to grabbing headlines, there are very few cricketers who come even close to beating Virat Kohli let alone surpassing him.

The controversy erupted when Kohli read out a cricket enthusiast's comment on his mobile app: "Over-rated batsman and personally I see nothing special in his batting".

Earlier, the India skipper was trolled on social media after he asked a fan to leave the country if he did not like to watch Indian cricketers in action.

Writing about Kohli's latest comments, Times of India journalist Dwaipayan Dutta wonders if the cricket captain is "losing perspective" off the field.

While adding that he didn't mind any sort of dislike towards him, the Indian skipper felt that one should get his priorities sorted before posting such comments.

Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli who is no stranger to controversy once again became embroiled in one when he told a fan that he should not be living in India if he can not like Indian cricketers. His response came on his newly launched app where a fan said he doesn't like to see India bat and prefers to enjoy the game of players from other countries more than the Indian counterparts. Others shared images of Kohli endorsing German cars and quoted an old tweet of his supporting German tennis star Angelique Kerber. "Yes, I can like and endorse global brands because I am getting money for it".

"The voices within it are frequently those that they wish to hear".

"I spoke about how "these Indians" was mentioned in the comment and that's all".

"That is also why contrary opinions are frowned upon".

Ending the statement on a cheery mode in an attempt to maintain the peace during Diwali season, Kohli stated: "Keep it light guys and enjoy the festive season". Yes, you read it right.
