Chrome To block All Ads On Sites That Gives Abusive Experiences

The said update, Chrome 71 will block websites offering "abusive experiences", Google announced. Google launched tools to deal with many of those issues in Chrome a year ago, however, the company says the tools didn't go far enough.

After putting those initial protections in place, Google learned that they didn't go far enough and that "more than half" of abusive experiences were not blocked. Webmasters can go into the Abusive Experiences Report, located in the Google Search Report, and select their website to check what Google thinks of the ads on their website.

As an expansion of Google's efforts, Chrome 71 will block ads on sites that show intrusive or misleading ads. Site owners can report such ads to either be corrected or removed.

Abusive ads, of course, come in many forms. This filter will be optional for users to turn it on or off from their Settings menu on Chrome. This will inform them if Google has blacklisted their website.

In order to protect yourself, you don't actually have to do much.

The ads can certainly be annoying, but Google is also warning that fraudsters have been using some of the ads in phishing schemes to steal people's personal information. Now, Google is pushing things even farther by blocking all ad content in general on sites which have a persistent history of abuse.

Ghana: Prince Charles says visit to city evokes fond times
The Prince of Wales was handed a calabash instrument, and while nervous at first, soon found his rhythm. The Commonwealth has 53 member states who are all former colonists of Britain.

Google is promising to punish sites that offer what the company calls "abusive experiences".

While Google's policies, on the surface, champion the user, some paint Google's crusade as somewhat self-serving, pushing for ad rules that favor its own advertising platform.

Ad-abusive websites are those sites that get aggressive with their ads, either by opening up countless new tabs, placing ads that look like system messages, or straight up trying to take your personal data from you.

Last year's Chrome update protected users from popups and redirects.

Now You: Have you experienced abusive advertisement or other content in the past?

While Chrome 71 will automatically block ads on abusive sites, users will ultimately be able to decide if Chrome should block ads or not.
