  • Migrant Caravan Pentagon Refuses Trump Order to Deploy US Troops to Border

"There is no plan for USA military forces to be involved in the actual mission of denying people entry into the United States", Dunford said.

Senior military officers have defended the deployment on national security grounds, but the mission - dubbed Operation Faithful Patriot - has been met with scathing criticism from many former military officials.

President Donald Trump tweeted last week that the caravan of migrants traveling toward the USA border could be taken down by lethal force.

He later attempted to clarify his comments, however.

Customs and Border Protection declined to comment. That doesn't mean shoot them.

"We're going to have tents". MP units have been assigned to the border mission to provide force protection to the units that will be providing logistical support to CBP.

"This will be done using highly experienced and capable combat engineers in battalions with expertise in building temporary vehicle barriers, setting up fences, and operating heavy equipment".

In April, Trump also directed the National Guard to support the Department of Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection as they worked to secure the southwest border.

However, Kane's scuffed left-foot shot found the bottom corner before his late header took two deflections on its way in. Both sides now sit on one point in the group while Barcelona sit top with nine and Inter in second with six.

But he noted that the soldiers that will be armed will be allowed to exercise self-defense. "Self defense is an inalienable right of an American soldier".

Around 900 troops have arrived at the US-Mexico border since the Trump administration announced the deployment on October 26.

But on the campaign trail, Trump has painted a darker picture of the caravan without evidence, calling it an "invasion".

As previously reported, the United States sent more than 5 thousand troops on the border with Mexico. The administration says it needs to harden border security as the Central American caravan heads north.

The caravan mostly consists of Hondurans who are fleeing from violence and poverty in their home country.

By voicing its opposition, the Pentagon helped ensure that its mission was tailored to only providing support to USA government personnel on the border, US officials said.

So far, local police in Mexico have not tried to stop the caravan.

Pentagon spokesperson Colonel Rob Manning said on Monday that the Department was now considering the deployment of some 7,000 troops in total, although he acknowledged that it will depend on the needs of the border security forces who are responsible for the operation.
