  • Seamus Power could still ensure a high finish

Champ's swing speed exceeds Tour average by over 10 miles per hour and his effortless motion suggests he will have a long career mashing golf balls down the fairway.

The 23-year-old was ready to prove he's more than just a big hitter.

The 23-year-old Californian, in only his ninth tour start, took a wire-to-wire victory with a final-round four-under par 68 to finish 72 holes at the Country Club of Jackson in MS on 21-under 267. "I executed all the shots that I wanted to. and just kept up with my game plan. On the back side I brought it all together and finished strong".

"It was awesome", Champ said. He cruised through the first six holes at 1 under, but back-to-back bogeys on Nos.

Second-round co-leader Norman Xiong faded after posting a 76 to stand at five-under as the former amateur champion went double-bogey, bogey, bogey, double-bogey on his last four holes to go from even par to plus four for the round.

For Champ, the week started with an impressive 7-under 65, and he improved on that in Round 3 with an 8-under 64.

While Champ was struggling, Corey Conners was surging on a warm day in central MS that saw temperatures climb into the 80s.

His putter remained hot when he saved par from 15 feet at the 17th to retain a two-shot cushion heading to the last. Trahan shot 67, and Stefani had a 68.

Cameron Champ's ball flies toward the fourth fairway following his tee shot during the final day of the Sanderson Farms Championship golf tournament in Jackson, Miss., Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018.

Conners had a 68 to finish second. On Saturday, he hit 15 of 18 and had just 25 putts.
