The New York Knicks have officially waived veteran center Joakim Noah, putting to bed one of the most ill-fated free-agent signings in recent National Basketball Association history.

Noah was apparently waived outright, which means he gave up no money in a buyout.

Along with the injuries, he also beefed with then-head coach Jeff Hornacek, and was essentially exiled from the team.

After a standout tenure with the Chicago Bulls from 2007-16, Noah signed a gargantuan four-year, $72.6-million contract with the Knicks in 2016.

Medvedev "took off" from the "masters" in Shanghai
Rising star Zverev was similarly emphatic as he brushed aside Australia's new number one, teenager Alex de Minaur , 6-1, 6-4. Djokovic will play South Africa's seventh seed Kevin Anderson and said he was arrowing in on Rafael Nadal's top ranking.

NY is using the waive and stretch provision to cover for the remaining $38 million on Noah's current deal, per Woj, which will give the Knicks an annual cap hit of $6.4 million for the next three seasons, starting from 2019-20.

Noah totaled 53 games over two seasons with the Knicks, averaging fewer than five points. By waiving Noah via the stretch provision, the Knicks are spreading out his remaining salary over more years with less of an annual cap hit.

He appeared in just seven games with the Knicks last season, coming off the bench.

The former Defensive Player of the Year was still owed $38 million over the next two seasons.
