Whether it's a shot of your pet, your friends, or a lovely spot from your latest vacation, you just take a photo in Portrait mode using your compatible dual-lens smartphone, then share as a 3D photo on Facebook where you can scroll, pan and tilt to see the photo in realistic 3D-like you're looking through a window.

3D photo view is available for every user from now, while the rights to upload photos will be granted in the coming weeks.

However, to take advantage of this feature, one needs to take a portrait mode shot from the smartphone. As per its name, the perspective will change when the user tilts their phone in different directions to view the image.

For better photo quality, Facebook's 3D photos work the best with subjects being three to four feet away from the camera on a background that's rich in color. Distinct colours will make the layers separate better and transparent or shiny objects like glass or plastic can throw off the AI.
