Tesla vehicles wearing a made in China sticker could be headed our way after news the United States company is set to hand over $200 million to buy a plot of land for a new $5 billion factory producing half a million Teslas a year.

Wall Street concerns that Musk's statements on Twitter were distracting him from automaker's main business also boosted during the quarter as the Tesla chief repeatedly tweeted abuse at a British cave diver associated in the rescue of 12 Thai children.

He joined Tesla's board past year as a non-executive director and has reportedly said he wants the job of chair.

Tesla paid another $20 million to the SEC, despite not being charged with fraud. Showing off his humor and tendency to troll on Twitter, the CEO also noted that as Tesla's critics have pointed out, the company has all the "chapters of bankruptcy", including "Chapter 14 and a half". "The settlements, which are subject to court approval, will result in comprehensive corporate governance and other reforms at Tesla - including Musk's removal as Chairman of the Tesla board - and the payment by Musk and Tesla of financial penalties".

Tesla will also establish a new board committee responsible for disclosures.

OPEC sees weaker demand for its crude next year as rivals surge
According to the outlook, Brent crude oil spot prices will average 74 US dollars a barrel in 2018 and 75 dollars a barrel in 2019. OPEC has been under the hit list from the US for declining the increased outcome to answer rising oil prices.

Musk is the public face of Tesla, and any chairman would have to contend with his powerful personality. Rupert Murdoch's son has reached a point of divergence from the family business in recent months.

Proxy advisors Glass Lewis & Co, Institutional Shareholder Services, and activist investor CtW Investment opposed Murdoch's re-election to the board in May, citing a lack of relevant experience and a "troubled history as an executive and director". He is now on the boards of Twenty-First Century Fox and News Corp. The regulator sued Mr Musk last month over allegations that he misled the stock market and harmed investors by tweeting in August that he had "funding secured" to take Tesla private. One of the FT's sources said external candidates were still being considered. In the signature for publication, Musk said that he was found unconscious and surrounded by empty bottles Teslaquila.

"Just want to [sic] that the Shortseller Enrichment Commission is doing incredible work", Musk, a frequent critic of investors betting against the electric vehicle company, wrote.

Tesla shares fell 1.1 percent to $254.15 in midday trading.
