A few weeks ago The Wall Street Journal published a report from inside Apple's team that is building their new Netflix competitor. It says 53 percent of devices introduced in the last four years have already switched to iOS 12.

One thing is clear: the iOS 12 adoption has outpaced that of iOS 11 at the same time past year. In comparison, iOS 11 didn't top 50% until the first week of November past year. It is worth pointing out that the four-year timespan metric is something fresh from the iPhone maker and is mainly aimed to show the popularly of the latest iOS version among all the devices that are available on its compatibility list.

The relative hesitance to update to iOS 11, and in this way, the expedient move far from it was likely its aftereffect being a famously bug-filled operating framework.

iOS 11: 52% as of November 11, 2017.

Look at the numbers above, it appears that the adoption of Apple's latest OS has been faster for newer devices as compared to older hardware. Overall, the rate of Android adoption has seemingly gotten better in recent years, but it still pales in comparison to a new iOS release.

IOS 12 debuted on September 17 with the introduction of the iPhone XS and the XS Max.

Apple's latest iteration of its iPhone and iPad software is running on more than half of the total devices. The TV application will come pre-installed on Apple devices.

Apple might have fixed the charging bug on the new iPhone XS lineup in the iOS 12.0.1 update but the same has caused major battery issues on new iPhones as well as older ones, going back to the iPhone SE. The new version that has features such as Screen Time and Siri Shortcuts that have attracted a large number of existing Apple device users. Users are also reporting increasing battery drain with the iOS 12.1 update.
