Instagram is toughening its approach against hateful posts with new artificial intelligence capable of detecting bullying in photos and their captions.
Instagram has revealed new tools that target bullying and other hurtful content, the aim being to reduce negative interactions on the site and improve the experience for everyone. "We're also introducing a camera effect to help spread kindness in Stories".
According to a spokesperson, the new tech will be able to detect bullying in photos and captions.
If a human moderator deems the photo is in breach of the platform's community guidelines, the photo will be removed, and the poster will be notified of its deletion and told why.
The tool - according to the company - will be more beneficial in removing bullying.

The technology that enables such detection was surveyed previous year by Wired, which highlighted the company's inner attempts at machine-learning comment filters. In rear mode, kind comments in different languages will appear. Users can also turn off comments on individual Instagram posts and block posts with certain keywords.
