"FortisBC is requesting all of our natural gas customers across the province to turn off their thermostats as well as reduce use of all other natural gas appliances".

The fiery blast happened Tuesday in Prince George, British Columbia, shutting down the Enbridge natural gas pipeline about 600 miles northeast of Vancouver.

'Approximately 100 members of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation were evacuated as a precaution following the incident, ' the statement read.

Motorists beware: gas prices are set to rise across the Pacific Northwest following yesterday's pipeline explosion in Prince George.

Police say it is still unclear what caused the natural gas pipeline to rupture but there are no injuries and no reported damage other than to the line itself.

An explosion and fire in a pipeline that provides natural gas to about 1.5 million customers in British Columbia, Washington state and OR has prompted a plea from energy companies to conserve fuel as Indigenous leaders called for assurances of safety.

Stout urged another 300,000 customers in the Okanagan and southeastern British Columbia., to conserve even though their natural gas comes from Alberta.

He said the blast sounded like a huge rumbling train or low-flying jet passing over his roof. He also said people north of the Lheidli T'enneh reserve have been evacuated.

"When we were outside, I could feel the debris fall in my hair", he said.

CC Sabathia Critical Of Angel Hernandez Following Loss
Tzu-Wei Lin is now working out with the team in case Moreland needs to be replaced on the roster going into the ALCS. He was awful behind the plate today", Sabathia told reporters after the game, per Tim Healey of Newsday .

An evacuation order had been downgraded Wednesday to the handful of homes near the explosion site.

The ruptured line has had an impact south of the border, as Puget Sound Energy is advising its customers to limit natural gas use.

Some gas is still being brought in from Alberta across the southern Interior.

"We're not going to move away because of one explosion", Frederick said.

Stout said Fortis expected to receive updates on the situation as Transportation Safety Board investigators and National Energy Board inspectors arrived to assess the damage and attempt to determine a cause of the blast.

"We have agreed as an industry to get people to conserve in the event of a shortage", said Ian Tostenson, chief executive of the B.C. Restaurant and Foodservices Association.

The company will update its customers as soon as it is in a position to offer something new, said Stout. The gas has been shut off. "For some reason or another the gas had stopped flowing and it built up and it just exploded", Frederick said.

"They had told me there was a gas building up in the underground".
