Benjamin Netanyahu is being investigated on suspicion of corruption in several different cases. He has denied the suspicions against him.

She was charged with fraud and breach of trust in June.

The allegations against the Israeli First Lady include spending around $100,000 (£76,640) of state money on famous chefs to cater for the first family at their official residence.

In addition, Sara used state funds to pay waiters to serve the meals on weekends and during private events, according to prosecutors, who said the hand-picked waiters were registered as "extra manpower" or "cleaners" to hide the fact that they were being illegally employed.

However, observers believe she will only receive a judicial rebuke.

Accused: Sara Netanyahu arrives for her fraud trial in Jerusalem.

The meals allegedly came from a number of well-known restaurants in Jerusalem, including an Italian restaurant, a Middle Eastern grill joint and a sushi restaurant.

It was originally scheduled to start in July but was postponed for reasons that were not made public.

Furthermore, Severino admitted after the game, "I wasn't commanding my stuff", right from the first pitch. In fact, he joked that the Red Sox will have an edge with Hernandez calling balls and strikes.

The indictment is one of a series of scandals encircling the prime minister and his family, and threatening to solidify their reputation as overindulgent and out of touch with the Israeli people.

But the case has again turned the spotlight on the Netanyahu family and past allegations of misbehaviour.

The meals were ordered "against Sara Netanyahu's will", it said. If convicted, Sara Netanyahu, who is accused of misusing state funds, could face up to five years in prison.

The legal woes have garnered intense, and sometimes lurid, attention from the media.

Mrs Netanyahu's lawyers contend that the indictment does not hold up because the regulations for ordering meals were legally invalid and a household employee had requisitioned the food despite Mrs Netanyahu's protestations.

Netanyahu was last questioned on August 17 in "Case 4000", a corruption case involving Israel's telecom giant Bezeq.

Transcripts from police investigations have sporadically been leaked to the media, painting an unflattering picture of Ms Netanyahu. Another ongoing inquiry involves the prime minister offering a different mogul to push forward government policies favourable to his telecom business in exchange for positive coverage in his news site.
