Caroline Wozniacki said she was fulfilling her childhood dreams after she won a 30th WTA singles title with victory over Latvia's Anastasija Sevastova in the China Open final on Sunday (Oct 7).

In the semifinals, the Dane routed Chinese Wang Qiang, giving her only one game in the first game and three in the second.

However, by winning the title, she will cut Simona Halep's lead at the top of the rankings to under 1000 points.

While not all of them found their intended target, the Georgian did enough to take the first set in 46 minutes. Having done everything, all of that, it's pretty wonderful. I think after the second match I started feeling like I was hitting the ball well and I could see the ball really well. "She didn't give me any presents, it was tough", said Sevastova.

This seemed to affect del Potro, whose miscued drop-shot in the following set saw Basilashvili break serve once again to serve for the match at 5-4.

Sevastova, who has not beaten Wozniacki in five attempts, said was pleased with her performance this week despite missing out on a second title of the season. She sealed the win on her own serve and admits her game is now in a good place.

The Dane of Polish ancestry, who was also the victor in the Australian Open and Eastbourne this year, was a clear favourite throughout the tournament after defeating all rivals quickly, including China's Wang Qiang, Czech Katerina Siniakova, Estonian Anett Kontaveit, Croatian Petra Martic and Swiss Belinda Bencic.
