iOS 12.0.1 fixes a major charging issue experienced by owners of the company's latest devices, where the Lightning charging cable was not recognised when the display was off.

Starting at $1,099, the XS Max is the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever released.

The bug seemed to impact iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max models, though not all 2018 handsets were affected. Users who were experiencing shoddy Wi-Fi speeds should see that issue addressed as their devices will now opt for the faster 5GHz network.

Developers received a brand new beta for iOS 12.1 this morning, bringing a host of new tweaks and performance improvements to the iPhone and iPad. Finally the update is also fixing an issue where Bluetooth could become unavailable for some users.

It's worth noting that anecdotal user reports suggested that this software bug could be addressed by a full iTunes restore without a backup.

"For the iPad, the iOS 12.0.1 update fixes the position of the ".?123" key on the on-screen keyboard.

Apart from that, the update also fixes a couple of other issues, including a Wi-Fi issue where the iPhone XS would apparently connect to 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz band when rejoining.

What's inside iOS 12.1?

The new version - iOS 12.0.1 - is available for download right now, and if you don't receive a push notification prompting you to download it, you can force your device to by navigating to Settings General Software Update.
