  • October Patch Tuesday 2018 preview

Earlier this week, we learned that some early adopters for the Windows 10 October 2018 have been reporting lost data after updating, and the issue is apparently serious enough for Microsoft to stop the public rollout via Windows Update (via Windows Central).

According to several users, the new update for the tech giant Microsoft's latest operating system, of course, Windows 10 is causing problems. These files are a copy of C drive including Users folders which includes AppData, Desktop, Documents, Favourites, Links, etc.

Importantly users should use the Recuva software before trying to roll back or do anything else, as this may overwrite the deleted files. Other users chimed in with similar complaints, both in the forum thread and on social media, as spotted by MSPowerUser.

In the face of so many problems, Microsoft had to do something, and it has. Some users reported that the Recuva software was able to recover some files, but only in some cases.

Microsoft has also reportedly taken down the update from its download site, and the company is not pushing the update to users via automatic updates.

Theresa May speech to draw eventual Conservative conference to close
Yet again, she speaks up for all the things she opposed during the referendum campaign yet still nothing happens. She announced that the government would lift the legal cap on how much councils can borrow to build new homes.

Microsoft has also provided links for people to contact the company. However, it's not affecting all who've updated their Windows 10 devices. "We will provide an update when we resume rolling out the Windows 10 October 2018 Update to customers". Here are some of the new capabilities you can expect in this surprisingly feature-packed release.

In a recent development, Redmond has pulled the October 2018 update due the file deletion bug.

Since you don't really have control over the actual day that the update hits your system, you can control what time of the day it attempts to begin the update.

To do this go to "Settings", then "Update & Security" then to "Windows Update" at the top of the list on the left to see the "Change active hours" option.
