Toyota's new recall covers about 2.43 million Prius cars worldwide, including more than 1 million that were sold in Japan and almost 300,000 in Europe, according to Automotive News.

Friday's recall involves certain 2010-2014 model year Toyota Prius and 2012-2014 Prius v vehicles. See the chart below.

"While power steering and braking would remain operational, a vehicle stall while driving at higher speeds could increase the risk of a crash", Toyota said in a statement.

Another 830,000 are reportedly in North America, 290,000 in Europe, 3,000 in China, and the rest in other parts of the world.

Mazda Motor Corp., which is in a technology alliance with Toyota, will also recall in Japan 9,335 Axela compact cars with the same hybrid system produced from October 2013 to October 2014.

The problem identified arises when the cars fail to enter "failsafe driving mode as intended". In November 2017, Toyota recalled the 2012-2015 Prius Plug-in for fuses that could similarly shut down the entire auto while driving.

Chelsea scrape past Vidi in Europa League
Sometimes you can score, sometimes not, but the performance is important. "In the Premier League, we have a lot of top players". Morata missed a chance before eventually scoring.

When that happens, "the vehicle could lose power and stall".

Japan's transportation ministry said Toyota had reported three malfunctions locally related to the issue, but no accidents.

"Due to inappropriate programming in the airbag electronic control unit (ECU), a fault may be erroneously detected during vehicle startup which would disable one or more of the sensors used to detect crashes", Toyota said. This could cause the vehicle to stall, which could increase the risk of a crash when driving at high speeds.

Shares of Toyota (tm) were little changed at the close of trading in Tokyo.

In 2015, it had to recall 6.5 million vehicles globally over a faulty window switch that was liable to short-circuit.
