A CALIFORNIAN orthopaedic surgeon who once appeared on a dating reality TV show and his girlfriend have been charged with drugging and sexually assaulting two women.

Robicheaux was one of two men featured in an episode of Online Dating Rituals of the American Male, which was canceled about its brief 2014 run.

He was also named "Bachelor of the Year" by Orange Coast magazine in 2013.

The couple has been charged with rape by drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia and assault with intent to commit sexual offences, among other things. Robicheaux is also accused of firearms violations.

Both suspects were arrested Wednesday at Robicheaux's apartment in Newport Beach and have been released on $100,000 bail. Robicheaux could face 40 years behind bars and Riley's sentence could be longer than 30 years.

During their search, authorities found thousands of videos and pictures on Robicheaux's phone of women who were seemingly intoxicated or drugged.

"Horrifying, I know", Michelle Van Der Linden, spokesperson for the district attorney's office, told NPR. In her statement, the victim claimed "they" were assaulting her, indicating Riley was a willing participant.

Robicheaux was an undergraduate at Louisiana State University and then graduated from its medical school in 2007, Rackauckas said. "Based on this evidence, we believe that there might be many unidentified victims out there", he said.

Robicheaux was a surgeon for the NewportCare Medical Group, but he has been removed from the company's website.

According to the allegations, both victims met the pair during social encounters where they became intoxicated and ended up at Robicheaux's apartment.

Six months later, prosecutors say, another woman alleges the couple sexually assaulted her at the apartment after she got drunk at a bar with them.

Mr Gove said it was "not true" the Conservatives supported Mr Orban despite Tory MEPs opposing the measures. The EU member states may also choose to address recommendations to Hungary to counter the risk.

In one incident, the couple allegedly met a 32-year-old woman at a restaurant in Newport Beach and invite her to a boat party on April 10, 2016 in that same area. The victim woke up, according to officials, and screamed before a police officer responded. There, they found illegal weapons, including two unregistered assault rifles, and illegal substances, including date-rape drugs, ecstasy and cocaine, Rackauckas said.

Neither of the victims were patients of Robicheaux, but authorities are investigating whether or not he assaulted patients. But attorneys for the suspects say they did nothing criminal.

Defense attorneys Scott Borthwick and Philip Cohen said the accusations are untrue. Dr. Robicheaux and Ms.

They highlight that the defendants may have travelled together to festivals including Burning Man, Dirtybird Campout and Splash House in Palm Springs.

The woman immediately contacted the police the next morning to report that she had been assaulted and a subsequent test of her blood showed multiple controlled substances in her body, Rackauckas said.

Those with information are urged to call Supervising Investigator Eric Wiseman at 714-347-8794, the district attorney's office said.

During the press conference, Rackauckas urged victims not to blame themselves. "To do so is a crime".

Investigators believe Riley approached the women at a bar or restaurant, then invited her boyfriend over, the district attorney said.

"We tend to trust doctors who take an oath to do no harm".

Mr Rackauckas said potential victims of the pair should not be ashamed to come forward. "A woman purporting to be his girlfriend clearly played a significant role in disarming the victims, making them feel comfortable and safe", he said.

"We've all heard of a wolf dressed up in sheep's clothing".
