Two first half goals from Romelu Lukaku (35' minute) and Chris Smalling (38' minute) was all that Manchester United needed to continue the winning run in their EPL clash against Watford on Saturday, September 15.

Mourinho was in a somewhat joyful mood after the win, and he jokingly revealed that dislikes Smalling's new hairstyle.

During a press conference Friday, Mourinho argued that Rashford has played 5,744 minutes in 105 games in all competitions over the past two seasons for the club, and suggested that the player was getting more game time than other young English rival.

Mourinho's research included two small errors: Rashford played the equivalent of 34.1 90-minute matches in 2016-17 for an average of 63.8 full games - and it overlooked how the player has had a longer wait between starts since Alexis Sanchez's arrival from Arsenal in January.

"I felt that my central defenders, they need especially in this moment of a bit of instability, they need somebody to support them, to give them the first wall, physicality".

Despite the victory, United will be disappointed they allowed Watford back into a match that appeared won when Smalling's goal went in. "We feel that [because] Fred just arrived yesterday from the Brazilian national team and Marouane has more experience of this kind of match, Fred is on the bench".

"He's playing simple and well".

Gracia conceded United were the stronger side in the first half, but believes his side showed the character he wants from them.

"I am very happy with the points", said Mourinho.

"I think the first half, they played much better than us".

Fellaini made his second start of the season on Saturday after impressing against Burnley last time out, and Mourinho is delighted with the Belgian's form, while also crediting his "simple" style of play. "We gave them the chance to be reborn, score a goal and give us a hard match". Let us know in the comment section below.

"I think I can expect that Sunday I'm going to be highly criticised for not playing him tomorrow because some of the boys are really obsessed with me and, some of them, they have I think a problem with some compulsive lies", said Mourinho. "The only thing that is clear for me is that the player never - in all these days we are together - told me he wants to leave".

"The most important thing for me is that we made a very big effort again".

"We try to win but if we have to lose, we lose this way - fighting until the end and showing our spirit and character".
