This marks the second time this month a pair of Russian bombers have flown close to Alaska.

The Russian TU-95 bombers, which were accompanied by two Russian fighter jet escorts, turned away before entering USA airspace, according to the statement, which was obtained by CNN.

A group of Russian nuclear-capable aircraft ventured near Alaska on september 11 before being intercepted by U.S. Air Force jets.

Such intercepts have happened about 60 times between 2007 and 2017, The New York Times reported past year.

The bombers are capable of carrying nuclear-tipped KH-55 long-range cruise missiles that have a maximum range of up to 1,841 miles - enough to hit targets in Alaska and the USA west coast.

The goal of the most recent flyby is unknown, but it comes as Russian Federation and China kick off Russia's largest war games in decades.

He was convicted last month of eight financial crimes in a separate trial in Virginia . In court on Friday, Manafort blew a kiss to his wife, Kathleen, before the hearing.

A previous interception of bombers occurring on September 1 involved bombers without any Russian fighter jet escorts, CNN noted.

The video is from the Vostok 2018 exercises, in which thousands of Chinese troops are training alongside hundreds of thousands of Russian forces.

The FAA warns foreign aircraft doing so that they may be intercepted by fighter jets, during which time they are asked to establish radio contact and follow instructions.

Russian Federation conducts operations and exercises of this nature regularly.

Pentagon officials say a pair of nuclear-capable Russian bomber flew near Alaska on September 11, 2018. The Tu-160 bombers can can carry six standard cruise missiles and 12 short-range nuclear missiles and fly at speeds greater than two times the speed of sound.

The Russian aircraft did not enter USA or Canadian air space. The flybys show a boldness on Russia's part as tensions between Moscow and Washington rise.
