Following what's been described as a "courtesy" meeting with Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn and the director, the studio is staying firm on its decision to fire Gunn after a series of old tweets, including ones that saw him joke about rape and pedophilia, re-emerged online.

While it's still possible that we could see James Gunn return to Marvel at some point down the road, this report from Variety makes it seem incredibly unlikely. Dave Bautista, the Guardians films' fan favorite character Drax the Destroyer, went so far as to proclaim that he would opt out of his contract were Disney to replace Gunn's completed screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Almost one month since he was sacked from the movie due to the discovery of historic offensive joke tweets, it's final: we won't be getting a third Guardians film from Gunn. Spotlighted in this movement is once again the Guardians' central players, who collaborated on a message of support for their director and screenwriter. Gunn met Horn along with his UTA rep and the meeting is reported to have been very civil and professional but ultimately did not affect that decision of the studio giant.

It's for sure that there are going to a be a lot of unhappy Marvel fans out there today and who knows how this will all play out with the cast being so open in their support of Gunn?

Turkey increases tariffs on some U.S. imports, escalating feud
Qatar said it would provide "a host of economic projects, investments and deposits" worth $15 billion to support Turkey's economy. According to economic experts, in the short term, the lira's slide will increase inflation, which will hurt Turkey's poor.

A new piece by Variety reports that Disney and Marvel are holding strong in their decision to not rehire Gunn. Feige more than realized this and chose to side with Disney in order to save the image of Marvel Studios as well.

Since the original news broke a settlement negotiation has bee the main focus, though it recently became clear that Disney won't be rehiring Gunn to direct the third film as some had hoped.

Gunn was in the process of writing the script for the third "Guardians" installment when he was axed, with production expected to begin in Atlanta in early 2019 with a targeted 2020 release date.
