"I'm a dreamer", Hernandez told the club website ahead of Sunday's trip to Liverpool.

Arsenal paid a fee of £17million to sign Perez from Deportivo La Coruna in August 2016 but he is reported to have cost West Ham just £4m, with a potential £1m payable in add-ons.

The defensive-minded midfielder becomes the ninth player through the door at West Ham during a productive summer window for Manuel Pellegrini.

Perez scored seven times in 21 appearances for Arsenal, including a hat-trick in the Champions League away to Basel. He went back to Deportivo on loan last season and was surplus to requirements at the Emirates after the arrivals of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The striker said: 'Today I would like to thank Arsenal fans for their support, they always showed me affection and love from the first time I arrived in London.
