Idris Elba, star of stage and screen both in the United Kingdom and U.S., has had the door opened for him by franchise producer Barbara Broccoli, according to Training Day director Antoine Fuqua.

Yet, rumor or not, people online seem pretty excited about the idea. There's also the fact that Elba plans to follow up his directorial debut Yardie with an amibitious adaptation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as actor, director, producer and musician - so he may well be too busy for Bond. It has now been reported that Luther and Star Trek: Beyond actor Idris Elba is in the running for the role. "Idris could do it if he was in shape", Fuqua told the newspaper.
