Cam Newton, Kelvin Benjamin Have Awkward Exchange Before Panthers-Bills Preseason Game

  • Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton

He scored a first-quarter touchdown in the game against the Panthers, giving the Bills an early lead, then leaped into the stands to celebrate with Buffalo fans. In fact, things may have escalated. During warm-ups before a Panthers-Bills preseason game Thursday, the Carolina quarterback confronted Buffalo wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, a former teammate who made disparaging comments about Newton to a reporter last week. Newton apparently wanted to discuss. Benjamin didn't appear to want to have much of a conversation. That may not be the case anymore, as Newton didn't seem able to say what he wanted when approaching Benjamin in-person. The beef stems from this quote from Benjamin speaking to The Athletic on his time in Carolina. "It just felt like I wasn't in that position".

Benjamin played with Newton for three and a half seasons in Carolina, though one of those was spent on the sidelines due to an ACL tear. It was a bad fit from the get-go.

The Iran-aligned Houthis regularly fire into Saudi Arabia and have targeted its capital, Riyadh, with ballistic missiles. Turki al-Malki said the attack was "a legitimate military action, conducted in conformity with global humanitarian law".

Newton later waved off Benjamin in apparent frustration before the two parted ways for the remainder of warmups. I don't know, man ...

Charlotte Observer visual journalist Jeff Siner captured the exchange, which quickly lit up social media. Benjamin was traded to Buffalo during the season past year.
