  • Apple drops Infowars and other podcasts from iTunes

Facebook said in a blog post on Monday that it was banning four of the pages belonging to Infowars founder Alex Jones for repeatedly uploading content in breach of the social network's community standards.

Facebook emphasized that it hasn't technically removed the pages but simply unpublished them, which leaves the door open for an appeal by Jones. "We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with differing opinions".

Only one Infowars show - Real News with David Knight - remains accessible.

The entirety of Alex Jones' podcast library, including his popular InfoWars program, has been removed from both Apple's iTunes and Spotify, according to BuzzFeed News.

"Upon review, we have taken it down for glorifying violence, which violates our graphic violence policy, and using dehumanizing language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies".

'Spotify can confirm it has removed specific episodes of 'The Alex Jones Show´ podcast for violating our hate content policy, ' a spokesperson said late Sunday. It has suggested that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax, and that the September 11 terrorist attacks were an inside job orchestrated by the U.S. government. It follows the company taking down four of Jones' videos last month. Apple confirmed in the early hours of the morning that it has removed five different podcasts recorded and distributed by Alex Jones and his website InfoWars.

The shooting left 26 children and adults dead at a CT elementary school.

InfoWars did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent outside business hours.

He has also promoted a theory that the Sandy Hook massacre was faked by leftwing forces to promote gun control.

Apple pointed Business Insider to the statement it provided BuzzFeed, in which it said that it notified Jones of its plans to pull the podcasts under its hate speech guidelines. These pages were the Alex Jones Channel Page, the Alex Jones Page, the InfoWars Page and the Infowars Nightly News Page.

Since founding Infowars in 1999, Jones has built a vast audience. Spotify took down several episodes of the show last week.

Jones, a conservative radio host and conspiracy theorist, has called the 2012 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, an elaborate hoax and is being sued for defamation by the parents of one of the 20 children who were killed in the attack.
