Crazy: NES Classic Outsold Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One In June

  • Nintendo's NES Mini is outselling the PS4 and Xbox One

It might therefore not surprise you to learn that Nintendo had the biggest console seller in June. Interest has been strong for Nintendo's recent hardware, with the company struggling to meet demand initially for the NES Classic, SNES Classic, and even the Switch.

At least it is for Nintendo, the Japanese gaming giant that topped the game console sales charts in June with its nostalgia-laced, miniaturized Nintendo Entertainment System. That's especially impressive considering that the NES Classic Edition was only re-released on June 29.

Four new cases of ebola surface in Congo
Health officials flew six blood samples to the capital of Kinshasa, where four tested positive for the Ebola virus. Over 50 people were infected in the Equateur outbreak and 33 died, Congolese officials said.

NPD Group Analyst Mat Piscatella noted over on ResetEra, that in June 2018 it was Nintendo's diminutive retro console, the NES Classic Mini, that sold more hardware units than any other platform. This marks a first for the NES Classic as well as for any NES hardware since NPD began tracking video games in 1988, three years after the Nintendo Entertainment System's original North American release. It also (hopefully) suggests that a Nintendo 64 Classic, Gamecube Classic, and Game Boy Classic will happen eventually. However, with classic hits like Pac-Man, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid, it is easy to see why the little console is so popular and if you don't own one already, then you should probably look to rectify that sooner rather than later! What do you make of this report and does this make you want to invest in an NES Classic Edition?

It's hard to forget the mess Nintendo made of the first NES Classic launch in late 2016.
