  • Pepperidge Farm Is Recalling 4 Kinds of Goldfish Crackers

Pepperidge Farm is recalling a variety of Goldfish crackers due to a possible salmonella contamination.

Company officials said the whey powder used as an ingredient in the crackers could be the culprit.

The recalled products were distributed throughout the USA and no illnesses have been reported.

To complicate matters, the four products listed come in a variety of packaging. There are about 23,000 hospitalizations, and 450 deaths in the United States every year as a result. Neither company has said if these recalls are connected, but for now, it may be time to pivot to another summer snack. They say people who bought the products involved in the recall should throw them out or return them for a refund.

A supplier of whey powder believes the crackers' seasoning may be contaminated with salmonella, according to Pepperidge Farm.

Healthy people may have short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.

No illnesses have been reported as of now.

About 1.2 million people in the USA are sickened with salmonella each year, mostly due to contaminated foods.

The produce was sold in Missouri, Kansas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska, Minnesota and South Dakota.

The salmonella-prompted recalls that have popped up recently have claimed another popular snack.
