Mass shooting in Toronto, many said to be injured

Toronto police have confirmed that the shooter is dead and that there are fatalities.

Witnesses say that a man dressed in black opened fire in Greektown on Danforth, a popular area of the city full of restaurants and stores, at around 10pm on Sunday.

A witness who was standing near the scene told CTV that he heard about 20 shots and the sound of the weapon being reloaded repeatedly.

Toronto police said a total of nine people were shot and said the suspected shooter is dead.

Streets in the area have been closed while police and other emergency services respond.

Witnesses also reported one of the gunshot victims is a child.

The nine injured have been taken to hospital and more people are being treated at the scene.

"Victims are spread across many blocks".

She tweeted: "My evening was nice until I heard shooting right out of my place on the Danforth". Reports of at least 10 victims including children.
