As of 3 PM ET, the exact moment that Prime Day started, Amazon's home page stopped working properly for some.
While Amazon doesn't disclose sales figures for Prime Day, Deborah Weinswig, CEO of Coresight Research, had estimates it will generate $3.4 billion in sales worldwide, up from an estimated $2.4 billion a year ago. Various different problems were observed, including product pages refusing to load and instead showing dog-related error messages, and search pages repeatedly refreshing before any products could actually be shown. "The outage is especially problematic as many of Amazon's Prime deals are promoted for a set window of time - something that could cause a great deal of frustration for potential customers".
"Some customers are having difficulty shopping, and we're working quickly to resolve this issue", Amazon said in a statement Monday afternoon, noting that despite the glitches, many users were still able to shop successfully.
While it pales in comparison to Black Friday or even Boxing Day, Amazon's Prime Day offers customers enrolled in Amazon's Prime membership program access to a variety of exclusive deals.

Monday will be the biggest opportunity yet for Amazon to lock more Whole Foods shoppers into Prime members.
If you spot any deals, make sure to throw a link to them in the comments for others in the community to see.
"Amazon is a massive behemoth - it will take more than a strike in Spain to rattle its cage", said Peter Horst, founder of marketing consulting firm CMO. Amazon says last year's Prime Day was its biggest sales day ever. Target also announced a one-day sale to rival Amazon on Tuesday for "everyone-no membership required". The online retail giant's 36-hour sale for Prime members begins today at noon. It also said Amazon had refused to enter negotiations over the issues. If you are an Amazon Prime member, you'll have a limited time to act if you want to secure some of these member-exclusive deals for yourself.
