Thai Cave Rescuer Says Elon Musk’s Mission Was a "PR Stunt"

  • Furious liberals meltdown sell Teslas after Elon Musk’s significant Republican donation uncovered

In a weird series of tweets on Sunday, Musk said he would produce a video proving his submarine would have been able to reach the children and in a comment directed at Unsworth, added: "Sorry pedo guy, you really did ask for it". No evidence has emerged to substantiate Musk's claim of paedophilia.

Asked if he would take legal action against Musk over the allegation, Unsworth said: "If it's what I think it is yes".

The mockery was fueled, in part, by reports that top rescue officials had considered Musk's submarine impractical for the cave's tight-winding passages. The submarine was about five foot six (inches) long, rigid, so it wouldn't have gone 'round corners or 'round any obstacles.

Elon Musk gave nearly $40,000 to a political committee that benefits House Republicans but said he gives to both parties to "maintain dialogue".

He added that Mr Musk was asked to leave "very quickly" when he arrived.

In an interview with CNN, Vern Unsworth basically told Musk to shove his submarine up his arse.

The tweets were later deleted but screenshots have been shared widely online by technology news site Gizmodo.

In that way, it is much like the rest of the House Republican Russia investigation. Gohmert's comment sparked vociferous objections from Democrats.

Unsworth could not immediately be reached.

Musk had reportedly been seen briefly in Thailand during the rescue last week, bringing a "hastily built" mini-sub to the mouth of the cave shortly before divers rescued the youths.

"Hopefully useful", he said in one tweet. He declined to elaborate.

As The Washington Post has already chronicled, Musk accepted the challenge with "a lengthy, live brainstorming process on Twitter", which ended when he traveled to Thailand with a miniature submarine made from rocket parts, tweeted some photos of the cave, left the device there and went home. That is my mistake. "I will correct it".

The billionaire attracted controversy for his approach to the Thai rescue after Narongsak Osatanakorn, head of the joint command centre, said the mini-submarine would not have been practical. He responded to a tweet from the BBC, saying Osotthanakorn was "not the subject matter expert". Osatanakorn stepped down as Chiang Rai governor during the rescue, but was still acting as commander.

In case you missed it, Musk flew into Thailand at the height of the media frenzy surrounding the trapped boys, offering to help get them out.
