Thai authorities called Harris for help on July 5 when experts divers from the United Kingdom, who were leading the mission, said he was the best person for the job, given his medical skills and 30 years' worth of diving experience, according to the ABC.

"Thank you for all the moral support".

"(We thought) we were there to do recoveries, so the actual outcome was unbelievably good".

The survivors expressed their thanks to the Thai Navy Seal by bowing to his picture.

The last group of the 12-member "Wild Boars" soccer team and their coach was brought out of the Tham Luang cave, near the border with Myanmar, on Tuesday night, safely ending a unsafe rescue and evoking global relief and joy.

However, he was just one of a small team of expert Aussie cave divers who have reached an nearly legendary status in their field due to their expertise and boundary-pushing missions. "They all have a good appetite and want to eat so many kinds of food".

Local and British divers who Dr Harris described as "the awesome foursome" had already laid terrific groundwork to ensure the success of the gruelling mission, he stated.

The pair are said to share a passion for outdoor pursuits.

According to the Mules' website, a tight bond has been formed between its few members as they "lurch from crisis to crisis" - using their high-level skills, top-of-the-range equipment and passion for exploration to conquer the toughest challenges.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad in ceasefire with Israel in Gaza Strip
Since the protests and clashes broke out along the border on March 30, at least 141 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire. The barrage from the Gaza Strip began in the early morning hours of Saturday, sending thousands of Israelis to bomb shelters.

The young "Wild Boars" and their 25-year-old football coach Ekkapol Chantawong wandered into the cave on 23 June.

Despite the positive assessments so far experts have said they would all need to be monitored closely for signs of psychological distress that could take months to manifest.

"What we do is very calculating".

Speaking on their return to Australia and still in disbelief over the miracle result, Mr Challen said the boys were medicated to the extent "they didn't know what was going on". Tragically, he found out his father had passed away just moments after he finally left the cave.

Tributes from Thailand and around the world have poured in for Saman, a triathlete and diver who retired from the military in 2006 and worked at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport before volunteering to help with the rescue.

"She is from Chiang Rai so when Rick was asked to come and help rescue the missing boys Amp was right by his side. But we will have a psychiatrist to evaluate them".

The 53-year-old, who completed his medical training in the UK, New Zealand and Adelaide, spoke to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on Wednesday about the daring operation into the secluded cave.

Their participation came after negotiations between Australian and Thai authorities accorded them diplomatic immunity to protect them from possible prosecution if anything went awry during the treacherous mission, ABC reported, citing an official source.

Thousands of people have called for Dr Harris and Mr Challen to be given the Cross of Valour, the nation's highest civilian bravery award.
