  • Donald Trump steps out of the US presidential state car called

When Trump stopped talking, a reporter tried to ask him if he regrets his interview with The Sun.

Just hours before arriving in London, the United States president questioned progress in Brexit talks and Britain's new plan to remain close to the European Union on regulatory standards for goods.

It comes just days after Mr Trump declined to say whether Mrs May should remain in post, said he had "always liked" Boris Johnson, who quit as foreign secretary over the Chequers agreement, and described the United Kingdom as being in "turmoil".

The prime minister will host a gala dinner and a meeting with Trump, giving them time to talk.

Duncan suggested the president had not seen the detail of the plan when he gave the interview on Wednesday, while also stressing that the much-vaunted special relationship was about much more than Brexit.

May has insisted that her Brexit deal will allow Britain to strike its own lucrative trade deals with countries like the USA once her country has left the bloc as planned in March next year. The visit is expected to be marked with large-scale protests across the country and comes after Trump took a harsh stance on the United States' European allies during a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit in Brussels.

Junior foreign minister Alan Duncan sought to brush off the remarks, telling the BBC: "Donald Trump is a controversialist, that's his style..."

More than 60,000 people have signed up to demonstrate in London on Friday when protesters intend to fly a large balloon over parliament portraying Trump as an orange, snarling baby. "I'm very strong on immigration". It's an accurate representation of his politics which are so immature.

He told The Sun Mrs May's plan would affect trade "unfortunately in a negative way".

Chelsea set to confirm Conte’s departure
Chelsea began a terse, four-sentence statement on its website, " Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company". Conte's average of 2.14 points per game in the Premier League is bettered only by Alex Ferguson (2.16) and Guardiola (2.34).

The US president told Mrs May "whatever you do is OK with me" on Brexit, but urged her to "make sure we can trade together". The monarch carried her handbag on the arm nearest Mr Trump as they went to inspect soldiers of the Coldstream Guards on ceremonial duty.

A report in Vanity Fair read, "She wore a buttercup gown with shoulder capes that says, "I'm the princess now". And that is fine", he said.

"She should negotiate the best way she knows how, but it's too bad what's going on", Trump said.

"I think he has done a bad job on crime, if you look, all of the awful things going on there, with all of the crime that is being brought in". Two senior ministers resigned in protest this week at her plans for trade with the European Union after Britain leaves the bloc next March.

During the news conference, Trump claimed he didn't criticize May over Brexit and said he had a "lot of respect" for her.

Adding to his extraordinary takedown of May, Trump praised Boris Johnson, who stepped down this week as foreign secretary over Brexit.

Mr Trump has also frequently angered British politicians and has been involved in social media spats with London's Muslim Mayor Sadiq Khan who Mr Trump said had "done a very bad job on terrorism".

Prime Minister May office said that she expected Donald Trump to discuss with President Putin issues like the Salisbury nerve agent attack on former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

Donald Trump delivered a snub to his host Theresa May, who hours before had laid on a prestigious dinner for the United States president at Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill. He travels to Scotland for a private visit later tomorrow where he will also prepare for his summit in Helsinki with President Putin of Russian Federation.
