Donald Trump heaps praise on PM hours after criticising her leadership

In an interview in Friday's Sun, Mr Trump said he would have carried out Brexit negotiations "much differently" and claimed the Prime Minister did not listen to his advice.

Trump changed his position from the criticism in The Sun interview. "And unfortunately there was a story that was done, which was generally fine, but it didn't put in what I said about the PM", he whined. "I don't know what they're going to do but whatever you do is ok with me, that's your decision", he continued.

Donald Trump insisted his relationship with Theresa May was "very, very strong" just hours after leaving the Prime Minister humiliated with an explosive assessment of her leadership. In denying a query from CNN anchor Jim Acosta, Trump said that "CNN is fake news".

A potential trade deal with the U.S. would have benefits for businesses looking to export, and could lead to more regulatory co-operation in financial services.

"We stand by our reporting and the quotes we used - including those where the President was positive about the Prime Minister, in both the paper and in our audio - and we're delighted that the President essentially retracted his original charge against the paper later in the press conference".

Trump added that he thought May's response was "very professional".

"Whatever you do is OK with us", Trump said at a joint press conference held on the lawns of Chequers, the Prime Minister's country residence. Trump's words appeared to pour cold water on May's latest plans.

In the interview, Trump savaged Mrs May's Brexit strategy, suggesting it would "kill" any potential trade deal between Britain and the United States.

US President Donald Trump's unique brand of disruptive diplomacy appears to have shattered the United Kingdom government's claim that Britain can have it all when it comes to trade once it exits the European Union.

Mueller indictment ‘aims to spoil’ Trump-Putin summit - Russian Foreign Ministry
Friday's charges outline the extent of Russia's stunning attack on the electoral system of the most powerful country in the world. In February, Mueller charged 13 Russians and three Russian companies in an elaborate conspiracy to interfere in the election.

"Except, I wouldn't want to expose Londoners to any unnecessary risk of meeting Donald Trump".

"I told her how to do it".

He blamed Russia's takeover of Crimea on his predecessor, calling it "an Obama disaster", and added that he didn't think Putin "would do it with me".

May declined to agree, saying that "over the years, overall, immigration has been good for the U.K". "The Fake News doesn't want to talk about that", he said, inaccurately.

"Theresa May has got a lot of great qualities - I am not sure if it is the right leader at the right time", he said.

"I love the United States but I love getting along with Russian Federation and China and other countries".

But at Chequers the president toned down the rhetoric, saying that "whatever you do is OK with me".

Later on, when the Trumps arrived at Windsor Castle to meet the Queen, it was different.
