He had made it to the the Guinness Book of World Records in 2016 for having the "Longest Fingernails on a Single Hand Ever". The 14-year-old then chose to take up a challenge to see how long he could go without trimming his nails.
Speaking through a museum interpreter he said: "I don't know if the teacher is dead now or not, but I would definitely like to say the thing that you scolded me for, I took it as a challenge".
He only grew the nails on his left hand, keeping his right hand trimmed.
Chillal's decision to finally let go of his 66-year-old nails could have been influenced by the level of care required to maintain them. The man could not open his hand or flex his fingers.
